For the uninitiated, getting to the Tamarind Club is not unlike going on an Easter egg hunt. It is "out in the sticks" ... even by Tortola standards. If you are not taking a taxi and have a rental car, look in the glove compartment and consult your map.
For as long as I can remember, Sunday brunch at The Tamarind Club has been a favourite for many expats living on Tortola. Even through changes of ownership, this tradition has continued and the restaurant still remains one of the busiest on Tortola on any given Sunday.
On Friday night, the owners put on a really fun Trivia quiz that begins at 7:30 pm. The winning teams is awarded a free Sunday brunch for 4 people!
Humour is the order of the day here as one of several signs at the bar clearly indicates. The sign reads; "Unattended children will be given an espresso and a free puppy".
I have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. It's a very relaxed and laid back sort of place. Service can be quite slow at times, so be sure you aren't starving before you arrive.
I am partial to their penne pasta with steak tips and mushrooms, the Fettuccine is also very nice, but often order from the specials board. Their chicken curry is also good, love the pizza, the omelettes are pretty much perfect and I their key lime pie is terrific!
The Tamarind Club is also a small guest house which I recommend as a handy spot for sailors if leaving Tortola by plane. It's about a 10 to 12 minute taxi ride to the airport. Restaurant goers are welcome to use their lovely pool with swim up bar.

From the Blackburn Highway in East End, take the road located to the immediate right of the East End/Long Look police station. Where the Road Intersects with The Ridge Road and Jennings Hill Road, you'll find Josiah's Bay Road off to the north. It's easy to miss with all four roads intersecting at that one point, so keep your eyes peeled. Josiah's Bay Road goes steeply downhill at the intersection.
Follow Josiah's Bay Road down a little way and you will see a large open field with several large trees on the left. That is the parking lot. The white building with orange roof (behind all the bushes) is the Tamarind Club Restaurant.
