Lagoon 520 | Catamaran - 2015
Name: Buya Lagoon | Air Conditioned
This is an imposing catamaran and she is certain to impress all aboard. Her spaciousness, crisp lines, plumb bows, flush hatches and brilliantly clean interior design with loads of windows and indirect lighting, combine to produce an absolutely gorgeous yacht! The intent of the architectural team was to bring the outside in by lowering all windows and incorporating the aft cockpit into the main saloon, making it one nearly seamless space.
The success of this revolutionary design can largely be attributed to moving the mast much further aft than previous iterations of the Lagoon range. Moving the center of effort further aft has produced a much more balanced sail plan with a shorter boom, taller main and more powerful headsail. This allows the skipper greater latitude to adapt and trim more efficiently to varying wind and sea conditions. The end result is a more efficient rig with less pitching, greater stability and better control under load.
The expansive flybridge makes tremendous use of the rigid bimini, providing not only seating for the helm but also a huge area for lounging. Cleverly designed cushions may be arranged in various configurations to suit your needs.
The large pedestal helm, is centrally located just behind the mast with all controls located at the mast step. A clever innovation is the large adjustable wheel with three, easily changed positions. A foot pedal allows you to disengage the wheel lock and move the wheel to center, port or starboard, depending upon your tack and the task at hand. It's a great feature for docking too.
This yacht has no shortage of lounge areas. The forward deck boasts the signature forward cockpit Lagoon catamarans have become famous for. The forward cockpit is located just aft of the trampolines and has an expanded lounge area where two to three people can stretch out and enjoy the sea breeze while working on that tan.
The aft cockpit is very comfortable and provides a marvelously social area to enjoy your meals, read a book, play card games and escape the Caribbean sun. A large bench seat is situated just foreward of the aft rail and is integrated with the dinghy davits. An expansive companionway leads to the large sugar scoops. The starboard sugar scoop has an easily deployed swim ladder with tall handrails, making getting in and out of the water or your dinghy very easy. Dinghy davits and an electric winch makes raising and lowering the dinghy a snap.
Buya Lagoon offers 4 queen cabins, one midships cabin with an over/under bunk berth and a single coffin berth is located in the port forepeak with access from a deck hatch. All 5 of the interior cabins are complete with en suite heads, showers and electric flush toilets. Each cabin is beautifully finished and offer plenty of natural light and several opening hatches for ventilation.
The large aft port side cabin is accessed through a separate entrance off the aft cockpit and offers total privacy from the rest of the yacht.
The main saloon and galley are simply stunning. Blond Alpi finishes have been used throughout and in typical Lagoon fashion, wrap around windows with several opening ports are standard. What isn't standard is that the designers have lowered all the windows to just above counter height, permitting the greatest view imaginable. The dinette easily seats 6 to 8 and the table is interchangeable with the one in the cockpit.
There is so much more to say about this yacht ... but seeing is believing. You'll just have to come to Tortola and see her for yourself. Sailing the BVI is not what it used to be back in the day. I remember the first yachts we represented that had an electric anchor winch retrofitted, and we were in awe. LOL, boy have times changed. Even by today's standards though, this is one truly luxurious catamaran!
PLEASE NOTE: A complimentary check out skipper is required on the first day of sailing from noon until 5:00 pm.
