They have incorporated all the stunning features introduced on their award winning Lagoon 440 and have basically reinvented the yacht from stem to stern. She's a little longer, a tad wider and perceptibly more sophisticated in her overall design. In other words, they took something great and made it even better!
A 45' catamaran is not a huge yacht, but she certainly 'looks' imposing. Her plum bows, broad beam, wrap around saloon windows, canted bimini and coach roof, together with the 75'8" tall mast, combine to cut a striking figure on the water.
Starting at the bow, the expansive deck and trampoline are certainly large enough for all in your crew to party, with plenty of room to spare for invited guests. The integrated forward cockpit and sun lounge are the perfect spot to keep little ones contained while you work on your tan and enjoy our Caribbean trade winds.
Extra wide, non-skid side decks, recessed hatches and properly located deck hardware make passage from bow to stern very easy for youngsters and oldsters alike. Hand holds on the coach roof are well placed for both children and adults. Of course wee ones will need Mom or Dad to escort them to the foredeck or flybridge.
Lagoon's iconic and much copied flybridge has undergone a makeover too. It's now substantially wider, seats more people, is much more accessible from both the port and starboard sides and from the aft cockpit as well. The designers have also added a wonderful sun pad on the coach roof, directly aft of the mast ... making the flybridge a much more "social" area for your skipper. You'll find that the well equipped helm has everything you need within easy reach and she's easy to handle on all points of sail.
The cockpit is huge and will no doubt become the center of activity during your time aboard. You'll find a handy built in drink/ice well and an outdoor garbage receptacle directly in front of the sliding glass pass through window. A massive day lounger and a u-shaped Dining area provide the ideal place to enjoy the Caribbean breeze, fresh air and those wonderful BBQ meals you'll prepare. There's storage galore in the cockpit, so no need to worry about where you'll keep your snorkel gear and water toys.
There's even an overhead opening hatch in the hard top bimini for those still days and nights when you want a little more ventilation. Alternatively, if the sun is a little too much, there's also a sun shade for the hatch.
As you enter the main saloon, you'll note how open, airy and utilitarian this space is. There's loads of natural light during the day and excellent overhead lighting at night. You'll appreciate the flow through ventilation too and for all intents and purposes, if the sliding glass door, pass through window and the forward opening hatches are left open, the main saloon just becomes and extension of your outdoor living space. Of course, at night you may want to keep the door, window and hatches closed to keep the air conditioning in.
Your well equipped, u-shaped galley offers plenty of storage and all the comforts of home. Check the equipment list below to see all the goodies. If you've loaded the boat with family and friends, the extra seating and additional table space inside will come in handy.
The navigation station is located to port, ahead of the galley and gives your navigator a great line of sight both ahead and peripherally. Wildcat Willie is equipped with all the basic instruments, charts and standard Coast Guard approved safety equipment as well as "more than basic" electronics. See details below.
Each of the cabins boast a queen sized berth, good drawer space, reasonably sized hanging lockers and an en-suite head with separate shower stall. Plenty of fixed portlights, opening hatches and cabin fans ensure your comfort with or without air conditioning. Two single forpeak cabins are available for teens or adults and the saloon table also converts to a double berth in a pinch.
This stunning catamaran is clearly a whole new ball game and VLVP are to be congratulated on yet another resounding success!
Note: Sailing lessons (level 114) are available aboard this yacht. Candidates must already possess ASA level 104 bareboat certification.
