Lagoon 39 | Catamaran - 2016
Name: Russell Warren
Ably designed by VPLP and Nauti Design of France, Russel Warren is available for charter out of Road Town, Tortola and is a very welcome addition to the BVI bareboat fleet.
First impressions are everything and the moment you step aboard to begin your sailing vacation, you'll find that "light, airy and spacious" pretty much sums up the interior of the Lagoon 39 - 3 cabin owners version.
She's remarkably "big" for a yacht under 40' and there's no question that the owners suite is the star of the show. Occupying the entire port hull, this cabin is all about comfort, privacy, modern lines and aesthetics. Several well placed portlights and opening hatches bathe this cabin in natural light and also provide excellent flow through ventilation.
At 6'6" x 6'6", the massive aft berth rivals any king bed and you can't beat the storage space provided on any catamaran in the same size range. There's an over-sized hanging locker with two drawers below, a large drawer under the berth, nightstand and a cupboard over the settee.
The desk is the perfect spot to plug in your laptop and take advantage of the free on-board Wi-Fi. The desk can double as a vanity too if planning to go ashore for dinner and you'd like to look your best. A comfy little 2 person settee has been provided between the desk and the berth if you'd like to escape to read a book or enjoy some alone time. In the bow you'll find your private head with separate shower is well lit and roomy. This space is ideal for Mom and Dad.
The starboard hull offers up two very comfortable queen berths, each with hanging lockers and a large drawer under the berth. These two cabins share one head with separate shower compartment. A forepeak berth in the starboard hull can be accessed from a deck hatch or a very small hatch located in the forward cabin. This berth is best for children or smallish teens.
Out on deck, you'll find the small but intimate outdoor dining area is sufficient for comfortably seating 6 to 7 people, but if you'd like to spread out, you can always use the indoor saloon table. Your helm station is located on the starboard side and is raised to provide good visibility both forward and aft. The kids will love the trampolines and there's plenty of room on the bow for sunbathing.
All told, I think this is the perfect bareboat for Mom, Dad and the kids or for three couples willing to toss a coin to see who gets the owners suite! I suppose it's rather important to mention that she sails very well too! You can read about her new mast design by clicking on any of the other Lagoon 39's listed below.
This green machine offers a solar panel assist (mounted on the coach roof) to keep your battery bank topped up as well as a powerful inverter/charger.
Note: Sailing lessons (level 114) are available aboard this yacht. Candidates must already possess ASA level 104 bareboat certification.
