Jeanneau SO 469 - 2015

Sailboat Name: Silver Girl | Air Conditioned

This yacht is the little sister to the incredibly popular 509 model. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 469 is built for speed, with a low center of gravity, sleek lines and a hard chine running all the way aft to give her added stability and performance.

There is no question that this yacht was designed to impress even the most demanding sailor. She boasts many of the same performance features and sailing characteristics as the flagship 509, while accommodating up to 6 people in 3 double cabins. She's also loaded to the gunwales with all kinds of goodies!

I've always admired the way Jeanneau has managed to provide one of the cleanest and practical deck layouts in the industry. Her wide side decks ensure that the inboard shrouds are never an issue when making your way fore and aft, there are no toe numbing cleats to cause injury and the deck hatches are properly recessed where it counts. Only the sail locker (located all the way forward) has a raised hatch.

The cockpit, while not huge, comfortably seats 6 and can seat up to 8 or 10 in a pinch. A drop leaf teak table is situated along the centerline and offers a good sized self draining drink well with bottle storage, providing the ideal place to enjoy your evening cocktails. You'll find a handy storage compartment on each end of the table to stow your binoculars and other small items. A propane BBQ adds to the long list of amenities this stunning bareboat offers.

Dual helm stations kitted out with all the toys will greatly enhance your sailing experience. Raymarine instrumentation includes a GPS Chart Plotter, Autopilot, multifunction wind, speed, depth display and Harkin 50, 2 speed electric winches. A remote control for your electric windlass is also supplied. The electric drop down transom and swim platform is quite large and boasts a cleverly recessed, telescoping swim ladder. All in all, she's a very impressive sailboat.

Below decks, the furniture is made of sustainable alpi (teak) composite, trimmed with lovely African pearwood. You'll find recessed LED lighting, plenty of handholds and rounded fiddles throughout. The main saloon is surprisingly spacious and belies her size. There's loads of seating around the dining table that conveniently folds in half to make even more space to spread out while enjoying some appetizers and watching TV.

On the starboard side, ahead of the galley are two lounge seats separated by the navigation station which doubles as a computer desk. If you need even more seating, just drop the convertible nav table down and insert the extra cushions.

The L-shaped galley offers up a double stainless steel sink, 3 burner gimballed stove with oven below, a top/front opening fridge, separate chest freezer, built in microwave and plenty of storage space for dry goods.

The forward cabin is fitted out with an island berth featuring Euro-slat springs under the mattress with large drawers below. On the starboard side is a nice little desk/vanity with a flip up top that provides a mirror and lighting so the ladies can stay looking their best. In addition, a full length mirror is attached to the wall just inside the cabin entrance. Two hanging lockers are complimented by lots of cupboard space dropped from the ceiling, surrounding the berth. No available space has gone to waste on this yacht.

Two opening hatches are situated directly above the berth with a third, smaller hatch above the cabin entrance. Additional light is provided by long portlights on either side of the berth. The ensuite head provides an electric toilet and separate shower stall complete with a teak seat.

The two aft cabins share a large head with separate shower featuring a handy little teak seat in the shower area. Beside the sink, you'll discover a hidden cabinet with towel bar. The cabinet opens upwards and provides a wonderful space to hang wet clothing and towels. Each of the aft cabins have 3 opening ports with integrated sliding sun screens and bug screens. There are also 2 fixed portlights, so you'll enjoy lots of natural light as well as excellent air flow.

For a 46' yacht, the Sun Odyssey 469 is amazingly spacious, very comfortable and particularly well laid out. She gets two thumbs up from me. I like it a bunch.

Please note: No smoking is permitted aboard Silver Girl.

Note: ASA Sailing lessons (levels 101, 103 and 104) are available aboard this yacht. Candidates must be at least 12 years of age or over to acquire bareboat certification.
