Helia 44 | Catamaran - 2017
Name: Full Moon II | Air Conditioned
This catamaran gets two thumbs up from me. It's actually one of my favourites. Fountaine Pajot have developed a four cabin, four head, yacht that checks off pretty much all the "must have" items in a very nicely put together package.
From the moment you step aboard the large sugar scoops, the sheer spaciousness of this 44 footer is evident. She has lovely wide side decks, an expansive bow with large trampoline, a very comfortable covered cockpit with seating for up to 10 people ... and a helm station that is one of the most "social" in the bareboat industry.
Starting at the helm, you'll find this yacht very easy to handle. All lines and clutches are within the captain's reach, making short handed sailing an easy task.

What I really like about the Helia 44 is that forward and side visibility is excellent. I'm 5'3 and had full view of the bow. However, visibility aft is partially obstructed so you'll need a little help if anchoring or docking stern to on the port side. The helm seats two to three quite comfortably and just three steps up from the helm to the coach roof, you will find additional seating for two as well as two full sized lounge pads for sunning. Your captain will never be lonely!
During the day, your cockpit, galley and main salon are quickly transformed into one large living space by simply opening the oversized sliding glass door and the adjoining pass through window to the galley. Flow through ventilation is provided by several opening hatches in both the main salon and cockpit.
The U-shaped galley is absolutely lovely. There's lots of counter space for meal prep and the goodies include a double stainless steel sink, 3 burner stove, oven, microwave, two drawer fridge and separate freezer. The open concept design allows your cook(s) to remain part of the fun while preparing those Caribbean gastronomic delights!
Each of the 4 cabins boasts a queen sized berth, an abundance of natural light, large overhead hatches, fixed portlights, large drawers, good sized hanging lockers, excellent headroom and a respectably sized en suite head with separate shower.
This is one very comfortable bareboat that can easily accommodate 8 to 10 people without tripping over one another.
