Bavaria 37 Cruiser - 2014
Sailboat Name: Inspiration
It seems that several of the more popular production sailboat manufacturers are concentrating on providing a broader beam carried aft, drop down transoms, an abundance of natural light and ventilation throughout as well as greater interior volume. Bavaria Yachts has joined this growing list of manufacturers.
Some critics don't appreciate these major attributes which are becoming almost commonplace, but I certainly do. Here's why. Anything that increases interior and exterior space, while improving human comfort levels, without sacrificing sailing performance or degrading functionality, is a very, very good thing!
Her broader beam carried well aft, allows for wider aft berths and a bigger and wider head, making showering much easier. In other words ... more comfort!
Her beamy rear end also provides much more width in the cockpit area allowing for twin helms, which in turn makes access to the swim platform that much easier. Any experienced skipper can appreciate the advantages of having dual steering stations. So there you have it ... comfort AND functionality!
But what of her previously mentioned sailing performance? Well, moving the mast back a smidge has yielded a more stable center of effort and she hasn't lost her spirit at all. She's well balanced, is easily sailed short handed and I defy anyone to claim this boat is slow!
Below decks you'll discover a straight forward and sensible layout. Offering up space that is equal to many 40 footers on the market, she's blessed with an abundance of natural light, good flow through ventilation, plenty of seating, comfortable berths and 6'3 headroom.
Your compact yet workable galley is handily located at the bottom of the companionway to starboard and includes a 3 burner stove with oven, double sinks and a top loading fridge. This is the perfect sailboat for Mom, Dad and the kids or a group of 6 sailing on a budget!
Note: ASA Sailing lessons (levels 101, 103 and 104) are available aboard this yacht. Candidates must be at least 12 years of age or over to acquire bareboat certification.
