Deep Bay Beach - Virgin Gorda

VG_Deep_Bay Deep Bay Beach - Virgin Gorda
This gorgeous bay and its lovely beach are positively peaceful. The beach is lovely and reminiscent of Dead Man's Bay on Peter Island. On their website, the folks at Biras Creek Resort claim the beach is private, but there's no such thing in the British Virgin Islands.

By law, all beaches are available to the public up to the high water mark. As long as you don't venture onto resort property, you are within your legal rights to use the beach. Please keep in mind that all equipment, lounge chairs, etc. are provided for resort guests only.

Currently, this is a marvelously quiet anchorage for those wishing to get away from it all. But hurry if you want to enjoy this little slice of heaven. It seems it is about to become a lot more crowded in the near future. The folks at Oil Nut Bay plan to build an 88 slip marina village, complete with shops and restaurant on the north shore of Deep Bay.

There are already 14 slips there now as well as a second dock under construction and an extensive road system throughout connecting Oil Nut Bay and Deep Bay.

In the photo below, you can clearly see the cut through the reef allowing access into the bay. The clearance is about 7' to 8'. The government recently installed a buoy system marking the channel. There are several good sandy places to anchor on both the north and south shore. Be sure to avoid anchoring in sea grass.
