Located at Penn's Landing Marina and named for the big "Red Rock" that sits at the entrance to Fat Hog's Bay, this restaurant is one place I can recommend without reservation. I wish I didn't live so far away as it would surely become one of my regular haunts. Alas, distance and difficulties dealing with blinding high beams at night prevent me from doing so. I also wish they were open for lunch as I would be sure to be there regularly on Saturday or Sunday.
The main photo does not do the place justice as they weren't yet set up for dinner. They normally have tablecloths and the place looks a lot nicer with tables that are set.
I love crab cakes and get really ticked off with restaurants that pass off crab sticks (imitation crab meat usually made from haddock) as real crab. Unfortunately, there are no laws in the BVI requiring restaurants to make this distinction on their menu. However, you can be assured that the crab cakes made by chef Martin contain real crab ... and they are delicious.
The baked brie, Caesar salad, curried shrimp and spinach artichoke dip are all excellent appetizers. I rarely pass on the crab cakes and often make a meal by ordering two appetizers because I love those crab cakes so much. I can't manage to eat an entree on top of the crab cakes.
The beef tenderloin is wonderful and so are their pizzas. I also had the curried shrimp once when they were out of crab cakes ... and that too was very tasty. Martin's desserts are always fabulous too! Two thumbs up on both food and service.
