Situated just east of Smuggler's Cove in Tortola's West End, Long Bay Beach offers several advantages for visitors to the British Virgin Islands. It is easily accessible by road and there's a lovely resort with restaurant and pool nearby with plenty of chairs provided free of charge for all comers!
Some visitors say they are not impressed with this lovely, mile long beach! They claim there's too much coral and stones close into shore. Well, perhaps that's true,
if you choose to stay directly in front of the resort.
It's amazing how many people don't appreciate all that this beach offers. Kids get it and so do boogie boarders and stand up paddle boarders. Even a few surfers appreciate it's assets from time to time. If looking for a fabulous "swimming" beach, there is one just around the corner at
Smuggler's Cove.
But ... if you stretch your legs and take a stroll west along the beach, you'll find a very nice, uncrowded patch of sand with excellent swimming. It's lovely right where I was standing to take the photo below. The house in the distance marks the end of this amazing beach which is just past the resort and
