Little Apple Bay Beach - Tortola

To_Little_Apple_Bay_Beach Little Apple Bay Beach - Tortola
The location of this beach can be confusing for some because although the beach itself is located in Little Apple Bay, it is part of a larger area named Capoons Bay. So if trying to find it, just look for Sebastian's on The Beach ... and you're there!

This lovely stretch of powder white sand provides a lovely spot to watch the surfers do their thing just east of here at Bomba's Shack, listen to the waves lapping on the beach and take in the view of Jost Van Dyke in the distance. You get the sun all day long and you'll see fabulous sunsets here.

On occasion, this beach (among others) are subject to a natural phenomena following any severe storm. The storm surge temporarily robs the beach of its sand, leaving behind beautifully rounded river rocks that serve as the substrate of the beach. They make a strangely enchanting clickety clack noise as the waves ebb and flow. It's really quite amazing.

The stone seawall that lines the beach to protect structures and dwellings in the area, serves to increase the speed at which the sand disappears here. Under normal circumstances, storm surge would force waves well past the "normal" coastline and the water would recede naturally. However, that would prove disastrous for residents in the area as flooding would damage and undermine homes and businesses.

The seawall effectively stops the waves, and reflects them back onto the beach with tremendous force ... taking the sand with it. However, Mother Nature knows where everything is meant to be and the sand is soon returned to its proper place.
