Rudy's Mariner Inn - Great Harbour

JVD_Rudys_Mariner_Inn Rudy's Mariner Inn - Great Harbour
I always enjoyed Rudy's company and recall spending a few hours chatting with him one day many years back as he sat patiently over a hot BBQ Pit tending that evening's pig roast.

Rudy and his hard working wife Ione, decided it was time to turn over the day to day operations of Rudy's Mariner Inn, Restaurant, Bar and Grocery Store to their charming son Randy.

While Rudy concentrates on fishing and taking guests out on his motor yacht for fishing excursions, Randy is busy at the restaurant seeing to it that all is running smoothly and his guests are well taken care of. He has brought a lot of new ideas to the family business and I have to say that I am very impressed. The whole place has undergone a major makeover and he's done an absolutely marvelous job of it!

The feel of the place still has that welcoming charm it always had ... but the furnishings have been updated and spruced up and all the staff are genuinely pleasant and helpful folks.

The outdoor part of the restaurant is nice and breezy but if it gets a little too hot during the day, there's a nice little indoor section which is situated behind the bar at the entrance to their new and very impressive little grocery store.

The day I was out and about taking pictures, I was warmly welcomed by the bartender, Lisa Williams ... pictured below. She couldn't do enough for me. When I mentioned what I was doing, she insisted that I wait while she went and got Randy. That turned into a full blown tour and an entire afternoon chatting with Randy about his future plans for Rudy's.

I was shown the conference room (below) which is used for movie nights, small town meetings, wine tasting parties, weddings, birthdays, anniversary's or just a bunch of friends wanting a private get together. So if you will be celebrating a special occassion during your BVI sailing vacation, you know where to find the perfect place to hold your brunch, lunch or dinner!

Above is a little slice of BVI history. That's a photo of Rudy (taken back in the day) doing his thing over the BBQ pit. He is a master of the art of pig roasting. The aroma fills the air and trust me, it's hard not to drool!

Be sure to stop into the market if you need any provisions and even if you don't, just go have a look see. I was impressed!
