Trellis Bay, Beef Island
If you are heading to the
Airport and find you have time on your hands before your flight takes off, I can't think of a better place to visit than Trellis Bay. This is also the hub where those going to nearby islands congregate to catch the various ferries.
This quirky little enclave (less than a 5 minute walk to the airport) consists of several restaurants, bars and a fabulous local arts center and gift shop.
Trellis Bay Market is very handy for bareboat charter guests to top up your provisions. This is not a full service grocery store, but it has the basics, lots of beverages and of course ice.
While anchored in the bay, rent a car from Hertz and take a tour of
Tortola. Views from Ridge Road are spectacular and you'll get a very different perspective of Tortola than you will from your yacht.
Marché restaurant (seen below and previously known as De Best Cup) offers some of the finest coffees available in the area. You may buy fresh ground coffee beans or just sit and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee and any number of specialty coffees on their outdoor patio.

Aragorn Dick-Read is a remarkably diverse and talented artist who passionately pursues his interests as they evolve. Aragorn thinks outside the box ... even by the standards of most multitalented artists who tackle several mediums. A visit to
Aragorn's Studio and gift shop is an absolute must!
De Loose Mongoose Restaurant is located at the southern end of the beach. Dinghy up to their dock for a hearty lunch or dinner, relax or take a walk along the beach to Sprat Point and do a little exploring.

Whatever your plans, be mindful that you may become sidetracked! Even if you hadn't planned to, its easy to spend several hours here, just kicking back and relaxing.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the monthly full moon party or the immensely popular
New Years Eve party that take place here right on the beach. Come and see Aragorn's fireballs ablaze on the beach, eat, drink and be merry! The burning man is a marvelous New Year's Eve attraction.
All the merchants in Trellis Bay get together to throw these shindigs. The bay is perfectly laid out to accommodate hundreds of people and the parties are always well attended. The celebrations are family friendly too, up to about 10:00 or 11:00 p.m.

Centered in Trellis Bay itself, lies tiny
Bellamy Cay, upon which sits
The Island Last Resort Restaurant. I've enjoyed several wonderful evenings over the years at the old The Last Resort. New management took over in December 2014 after embarking upon several renovation and improvement projects and I look forward to more good times ahead.
