Little Harbour, Jost Van Dyke in the BVI

JVD_Little_Harbour Little Harbour, Jost Van Dyke in the BVI
I think this wonderful little spot should be called Lobster Haven! All you will find here are three terrific restaurants, each specializing in lobster. You'll find lobster salad, lobster bisque and BBQ'd, baked or steamed lobster, as well as ribs, chicken, steak and other home cooked dishes to tantalize the taste buds.

This is a nice quiet anchorage with about 20 mooring balls and a few good snorkeling spots. Pay mooring fees at Abe's or at Harris' Place ... depending upon which side of the harbour you moor. Each of them have 10 moorings and both monitor channel 16.

As you can see in the photos above and below, entry to the anchorage is pretty straight forward. Mind the shoals on both sides of the harbour and you are good to go.

There's no beach to speak of, which also means no crowds. This is a great anchorage for those seeking peace and quiet and a wonderful meal, regardless of which restaurant you select.

On the western side of the bay, you'll find both Harris' Place and Sidney's Peace & Love Restaurant. They are right beside one another. Do not expect high end decor at any of these restaurants ... in fact, if you saw a place like this back home, you might not even go inside.

Don't let appearances stand in the way of having a great meal and a wonderful seaside dining experience! For me, one of these restaurants does stand out above the other two ... but I'll leave it up to you to decide which one you prefer. If looking for a place with personality, it's tough to choose one over the other. All of them have great staff and good to great home cooked food.

If you'd prefer to dock rather than moor, call Cynthia at Harris's Place on VHF Channel 16 to see if she has space. She has power at the dock. You'll have to ask Cynthia what the going rate is.

On the northwest shore, at the head of the bay, you'll find Little Harbour Marina owned by Gerald Chinnery. Top up your gas, diesel, water, ice, cold drinks and, if they are up and running, you may be able to grab some pizza too! Gerry also offers overnight docking. Call him at (284) 499-0942 or 499-8000.

On the eastern shore you'll find, Abe's By The Sea Restaurant, offering seaside dining, a tiny grocery store for very basic provisions as well as car rentals for anyone wishing to go ashore and tour the island by car.

For a quiet, overnight anchorage, (with restaurants) ... this is one of the best in the islands!
