Our government has wisely issued a schedule of standard fares to and from all major places on each of the islands. If you know where you are going to and from, you can find the approved fare in advance by contacting the BVI Tourist Board.
Confirm the fare with the driver before entering the taxi. You may also be interested in taking an island tour and you should be aware of the miscellaneous charges for children, luggage and waiting time.
There are several great taxi drivers on
Tortola but few whom I have used personally. The three fellows listed below are not only known to me, but I have known each of them for years and consider them friends. I can personally vouch for their professionalism. I have used other drivers who were not nearly as friendly or helpful ... and some who have scared the begeebers out of me from time to time.

He has provided transportation to literally thousands of charter guests over the years and I've never heard even one complaint about him or his service.
If he isn't personally able to make it, he will send one of his associates that he works with regularly.

Big Dave (or Cannon as he is known locally) is a cool guy! He and I have known each other for about 15 years and I always enjoy his take on local politics. He has a big funny bone to match his big smile and is certain to provide personalized and on time service.
I really didn't mean to make his photo look like a mug shot! I didn't think what the clapboard siding would look like in a head shot. Kind of looks like those height rules they use in booking shots doesn't it? Sigh. Sorry Dave! I'll get a new shot one of these days. :)

I've known Paul since he was knee high to a grasshopper ... and he's in his 30's now.
He's a wonderful guy with a big heart. He works full time for the government during the week but is always available anytime after 5:00 pm and on weekends.
You can't go wrong with any of these guys! They are my friends and I know them well. So if you have any problems at all, let me know.
