ASA Sailing Lessons in the fabulous British Virgin Islands!

Why not learn to sail while on vacation? If you have never sailed before, you may expect to complete the ASA (American Sailing Association) Basic Keelboat and Coastal Cruising courses in one week.

In order to be certified for "Bareboat Chartering", you should plan a minimum 10 day charter to complete all three courses. If you plan a 7 day vacation, you can expect to complete levels 101 and 103. The bareboat chartering level will have to wait for another time.

If you'd like to learn to sail a catamaran, this should be planned as a separate holiday, after having completed the first three courses. (See note below.)

Each ASA course is approved by the National Association of Boating Law Administration (NASBLA) is recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard as a recognized safe boating course. As such, each course offered meets all requirements for mandatory education and licensing for every state in the U.S.

Sorry, we do not offer day classes, nor do we arrange lessons for singles or couples wishing to join a larger group.

The concept is to charter a yacht for a minimum of 2 persons and a maximum of 8, subject to yacht availability for the dates requested. We will arrange for an ASA sailing instructor to live aboard the yacht with you for a minimum of 7 nights. This is a full immersion course aboard your own private yacht, offering one on one training to those aboard wishing to take the courses. Not everyone needs to participate.

Please note that children wishing to take lessons must be 12 years of age or older.

The following ASA sailing courses are available in Tortola:

Note: Guests wishing to take levels 101, 103 & 104 may do so aboard any of the monohull sailboats we represent. ASA level 114 is offered aboard "some" catamarans but not all. In order to take the catamaran course, you must have successfully completed ASA 101, 103 & 104 aboard a monohull yacht. Please contact us for availability and additional information about becoming catamaran certified.
