BVI Music Festival

Our 7th annual BVI Music Fest will likely take place in Cane Garden Bay, Tortola May 25, 26 & 27 & 28, 2007.

Committee chairman, Frank Mahoney is the driving force behind this popular British Virgin Islands event. Frank is thrilled to welcome all sailors and yachtsmen to Tortola for a seventh straight year!

The Festival is a wonderful event which the people of the British Virgin Islands and visitors alike, eagerly await each year!

In the past, Bvi Music Fest headliners have included such musical greats as Freddie McGregor, Regina Belle, Jonathon Butler, Maxi Priest, Jimmy Cliff, The Blue Notes, Sanchez, Butu Banton, The Stylistics and Roberta Flack among several others. And we never know what musical entertainment awaits us for the years to come. These line ups just keep getting better and better!

You'll also enjoy some of our own, home grown talent and bands from various parts of the Caribbean playing at the BVI Music Fest and making a wonderful showing as well. Various musical genres include Caribbean calypso, fungi, reggae, rhythm & blues, soul, jazz, soca, steel pan, rap and rock. Tortola is abuzz during this music festival as marvelous sounds fill the air while the sun sets over Cane Garden Bay.

Music Festival Crowd
Cane Garden Bay Beach is transformed during this festival!

This three day extravaganza is a "must see" if visiting the Caribbean and one which your whole family is guaranteed to enjoy. Even small children love to be here! As if the entertainment weren't enough, our festival committee always sees to it that there is never a dull moment. The British Virgin Islands Mocko Jumbie troupe (always a guaranteed crowd pleaser) often perform during the day and attractions such as live fashion shows, sand castle building contests and other forms of entertainment are provided to add to this fun filled weekend!

Food of all types is readily available from several local restaurants and you'll find liquid refreshments dispensed approximately every 25' along the beach! Vendors in tents set up especially for this event are more than happy to sell you their wares which include jewellery, t-shirts, hand crafted gift items and just about everything you can imagine!

Admission is $10.00 per person per night or $25.00 for all three nights. Children under 12 are admitted free. There is no admission fee during the daylight hours. Public washrooms and showers (which are cleaned regularly throughout the weekend) are provided right on the beach beside Myett's Restaurant.

"Our yacht charter industry is one of the British Virgin Islands' greatest assets", said Frank Mahoney. "With this in mind, our fest committee have worked diligently to ensure this increasingly popular Caribbean event caters to the boating community as well as all land based visitors and residents."

Important Note: If you are planning to drive to Cane Garden Bay ... you may want to think again! Parking and traffic are very real problems here simply due to the size of the area and availability of parking spaces. You would be wise to take a cab or better yet, take one of the shuttles provided from Road Town or Carrot Bay. Trust me, you'll be glad you did!
