Long Bay Beach on Beef Island

BI_Long_Bay_Beach_Beef_Island_2 Long Bay Beach on Beef Island
This truly splendid beach located right beside the airport on Beef Island offers terrific swimming in the incomparable, Caribbean blue waters. The water conditions at Long Bay are almost always serene and ideal for the whole family. There is a pretty quick drop off from shallow water, so non swimmers and small children should probably wear flotation devices and be carefully watched by an adult.

Pack a picnic basket and cooler with water, food and drinks, bring some beach chairs or just a towel and make a day of it with your family and friends! Bring along your water toys, Frisbee and beach ball because there's plenty of room to stretch out and play. You'll find some welcome shade under any of the sea grape trees that line the beach.

Please bring along your own garbage back and take your trash with you when you leave. If looking for peace and quiet, you may want to avoid this beach if visiting during any long weekends or holidays as this is popular spot and gets very busy during any holiday period. The rest of the time, it is rare to see more than a handful of people here.

Aside from some noise created by the odd plane taking off from the airport ... it is a very quiet place to escape and enjoy your surroundings. The last time I was here, a couple of teenagers decided it would be nice to share their music with me. I just moved upwind a couple of hundred feet, no more loud music to deal with. Magic! The beach is plenty big enough for everyone to enjoy themselves. :)
